My pig, Ziggy Sawdust is a 5 year old that I have had since he was 3 months old. Recently he began limping and steadily became worse and worse. The vet came out and gave him shots and Prednizone pills saying that his joints might be breaking down. He got a little better but when we took him off the Prednizone he became lame again. We thought this was a condition we would just have to accept. One day the vet was over cutting hooves and tusks and as he began to dremel the hooves for the final rounding of his trimming, sparks began to fly. He thought this odd. As he probed the hoof he found a tiny staple point deep in the hoof. After removing this, Ziggy was a new pig. ALL BETTER!
As a note of caution....nails, staples, pins and needles are hazards to our dear little friends so we should account for any item such as these that gets away from us!
Thanks for your wonderful website!!
