Hi Kathleen,

I hope all is well with you and your family. We have had Benjamin (new Name) for a little over a week and we have made so many positive steps together. He walks well on his lead outside, has become much more comfortable with everyone including the Golden retriever and cat. (and visa versa) He always urinates in his litter box, and does his other business outdoors. He has learned to sit, and gives kisses. He still screams bloody murder when picked up but after a few minutes of singing, he calms down and sometimes drifts off to sleep, usually in the rocking chair.

I have seen such progress in just one week, I have a feeling that in several months I will be completely amazed!

Best wishes to you and thanks again for all your advice and support.

Sincerely,
Tia and Carl Mazzola

Dear Kathleen,

How are you? I hope all is well with you and your family. The name Chubby unfortunately stuck despite efforts on my part to change it. He is chubby.gif - 24639 Bytesdoing very well. He added one more trick to his repetoire, he now shakes his leg. (in addition to sitting, sitting up, and pushing a ball) We all are really enjoying him. He brings us pure joy. I took him into my son's 3rd grade for show and tell. All I can say is he caused quite a stir, I think the whole school ended up at some point comming into the room including the principal!

Everyone simply loved him. I tried my best to give a very educational lecture on all the many virtues of pigs, which I have learned with your help. I find that people are so misguided about pigs. One mother at school looked at me with a look as if I were crazy and actually said, "are you really going to keep him?" I was so stunned by her attitude, I paused and of course politely responded yes, all the while secretely thinking no, I paid for him, loved him, cared for him, fed him, trained him, provided a nice heated bed for him, bought him toys, countless other accsessories, and spent hours of my time with him all so I could leave him somewhere on the side of the road! On the same note the bacon/pork jokes are really getting old. Do you encounter the same misunderstandings in the south or are they just more prevalent here in the north? Oh well, I guess it goes with the territory. He certainly is a conversation piece, and I have begun to feel like a porcine educator. Hopefully the word will spread and the more people enlightened, the more will come to know the joys of having these great animals. Certainly I can't expect everyone to share my enthusiasm. Some people don't even care for cats or dogs so pigs are completley out of the question! I must say however the majority of people are enthralled with Chubby.

Take care and thank you again for all you have done.

Sincerely,
Tia Mazzola

Hope all is well.
