Belle is doing fine. She is so much fun. She lords it over the dogs and makes them do what she wants, its fun to watch. She sleeps up against them now.

She still doesn't like to be picked up, but she allows it. She just hates the harness. It is almost impossible to get it on her. Found out why she was so hard to toilet train (wouldn't use the box). She wanted to do her business outside. As soon as we picked her up and took her out, she was toilet trained. She just won't go in the house unless she has to. Have included a picture of her with one of the dogs, Holly.

The piggy is doing great. She is such fun. Never realized how neat a pig could be. She talks all the time. They are so expressive with all their different sounds.belle.gif - 33427 Bytes It takes a while to understand the different meanings. She goes up and down the porch steps now. It is so cute to watch her go in and out with the dogs (we have three). She doesn't like linoleum or hardwood floors cause her feet slip. To get her to go to the back door so she could go out we had to put stair runner carpet across our kitchen, across the back porch and down the proch steps.

She doesn't seem to be interested in playing with her toys. She is a real people pig and whenever we are home she craves almost constant attention. She does it in a cute way though and it isn't offensive, just fun.

I really enjoy the way she has blended into our family. She interacts with everyone and is so smart. It just seems like she has always been here.

Some Memorial days pictures are attached. Oh yeah, we have found that if we pick her up and hold her she lets us put the harness on. Once on it doesn't bother her at all. We weighed her last week, 35 pounds.

Haven't written for a long time. Belle is a few days short of a year old. She is such a neat pet. We haven't trained her to do any tricks except sit. We just let her enjoy being a pig. She roots in the yard from 4 to 8 hours a day. She loves the leaf pile I raked up this past month. Just thought I would drop a line and let you know all is well. We have moved to South Carolina (LOVE IT). I am starting a new career as a long distance truck driver and my wife will be staying home with the animals. Have a happy new year 2003.

March, 2004
Hey Kathleen:

This is Fred Correll. We bought our pig from you about two years ago. Thought it about time we gave you an update.

Still love her, can't imagine not having a mini pig around. We haven't trained her to do any cute tricks except sit. She spends the day with the dogs out in the yard. They have become her herd. Mostly though she just does piggy things.

She got a little overweight last summer, but we recognized it and cut back on her food. Mostly it was the peanuts we were giving her (no salt ones). They are very fatty. My wife makes her sugar free jello, she loves that.

We give her some stuff she shouldn't have, but in quantities too small to harm her. She sits patiently while we eat (for a pig, only a little pushing). But she has learned to sit and wait till we are done eating as that is what we have always done with the dogs. She has learned to eat from a spoon or a fork. I think her all time favorite is when I give her a few teaspoons of my sweetened coffee. Pigs are just so much fun to feed cause they are so grateful.

Since our move from New Hampshire to South Carolina she has really been happy with the warmer weather. Her inside sleeping place is under an end table that she has used since she was a baby. She hardly fits any more. Besides her blankets, she likes to take plastic shopping bags and shred them by standing on them and pulling them with her mouth. She then lines her blanket nest with them. Sometimes she will work for an hour before everything is adjusted properly before she lays down.

She also has a great disposition. She has never even got aggresive with any strangers. She just loves people.

And boy is she smart. We got a child gate to keep her in one part of the house. It had to be lifted and then pushed to the side to open. I put it up in the morning and that afternoon she could open it. It is also fun to watch her reason ways to get the dogs in trouble. Pigs are very subtle and very smart.

We feed her Mazuri pot belly pig food with the meds in it and her daily ration of vegetables. We also give her salt free rice cakes, wheat bran bite size cereal with no salt and just recently we started with no additive puffed wheat and puffed rice. She is very healthy. The move to South Carolina is another story. We moved in a U-Haul with the pig, three dogs and two birds. To make a long story short, it was quite an experience. She was about 6 months old then and just slept on the front seat with us most of the way. She was so good and never had an accident. One night she we all stayed in a hotel; dogs us and the pig.

Anyway, just thought i would share that we really enjoy her as a pet.

Later
Fred C.
