Ponderosa ReferencesDear Kathleen:An update on our Piggy Boy......he is doing well. We are doing well. I called all the vets in our area before we got our baby.....and they were only aware of two other pigs even in the area! He is smart. Sometimes I think he reads the book before we do. We have been holding him everyday. He doesn't struggle at all after we pick him up......he just hollers and hollers and hollers....snuggles in as relaxed as can be, but yells. Today he "yelled" for what seemed an eternity before he snorted off to sleep. Either Jon or I get down on the floor with him every evening for his quality snuggle time. He and the three dogs and cats all are getting along just fine. He has even gone up to visit the horses when Jon feeds. He still protests with the second strap on the harness, but that too is getting easier and we go for little trips on the leash. He goes out with the dogs....and comes a running when I call him (especially if I rattle the food cup)! I think we are doing great for only two weeks. We sure like feeling that our herd circle is complete! The snorfeling sound is music to our ears. Jon mailed the crate back to you yesterday! Thanks for your good job......
Happy Post Holiday Greetings: Our Piggy is doing well, but has had a lapse in potty training and I am kinda baffled. He would use his litter box only for occasional pees, mostly going outside....has pooped outside almost since we got him. Scant accidents in the house. For the past 10 days or so, he had peeing in the corner of his room. The litter box is clean and unmoved; nothing has changed in his room or his schedule. The weather has become colder, so he doesn't enjoy being outside as much, but still is outside several times a day. I am tempted to move his litter box to where he is peeing, but on reading Nancy's book and some of your advice that doesn't seem to be the thing to do? Any Suggestions? He is a neat pig. Very independent, not as "lovey" as our last pig, but definitely not as spoiled either. He really has quite good manners. His predeccesor was pretty pushy and in to everything! It was hard to stay ahead of him. (Realizing probably more of an owner problem than a piggy problem!) Piggy Boy (Cool Ham Luke) has much nicer manners. Gets along well with the dogs and cats and is polite to guests, altho he would just as soon they leave him alone....he has never been aggressive. Surely likes his people; comes when called (or is it "rattled") for! Very healthy. His trip to the vet for the pseudo rabies blood draw went so well....the vet's office is still raving about what a wonderful piggy child we have! Appreciate any insight on "our" problem! Thanks.... Piggy Boy and Parents
You are a wise piggy mom....good definitely be "pretend"....cuz the accident is usually in the morning....the brrrrr-cold morning...after his "out"...will pay more attention. Had something funny happen this morning. I have a live trap for the mice that invade my kitchen. Catch and release out by the wood pile is the plan. My husband thinks that more than rid the house of mice....I just have an exercise program for them running back into the house. This morning as I was about to liberate my two captives, I never made it outside and they escaped right back into the kitchen. I had the two house dogs, cat, pig and now two mice underfoot....and Piggy Boy started out chasing the mouse! Was not a successful chase, but without a doubt one of the funniest, most incongruous sights I have ever experienced.
Yes, of course you may use any part of my email that would be helpful! He is such an handsome pig. He has such clear eyes and a gorgeous thick winter coat. He is beautiful. Altho, not much of a mouser! Guess you can't have everything! Thanks for your insight...
