Book Review

Just wanted to let you know that I received your book. I'm really delighted with it. I wish I had read this before I took on my pbp. It would have made things alot different.

I'm trying to get some weight off of her. I followed your advice and cut her pellets back to 1 cup per day. 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the evening. I'm also cutting back on her veggies. She hasn't had fruit for 2 months. With the exception of the 1/2 of banana that she gets in the evening as a snack....before bed. I'm putting some of her veggies in the ball so she can exercise while she eats. And I think if I space out her meals it might help her make the adjustment to "considerably less" food. But sometimes she gets really nasty when she thinks she should eat......would it hurt to give her a handful of lettuce once and a while ? I use a combination of leaf, bibb, romaine and iceberg (just as a filler). Does lettuce put weight on a pbp ? What about grazing....does grass make them gain weight too ??

Many thanks for all your help.

Barbara

Note from Kathleen:
In dieting an overweight pig you can look at like you would if you were on a diet yourself. The green vegetables are considered "free" on any diet so that is always a good choice to supplement a pig's diet. Grazing on grass should always be considered when looking at the total daily caloric intake for your pet pig. There are calories in grass. So how often and how much grass is eaten should be considered along with her other foods.
